Parents' Night Out at The Nest!

During PNO kids are invited to play and explore at The Nest while parents enjoy an evening out! 

This fun-filled night will include exhibit play & exploration, dinner from Alfredo's Pizza Villa, and a show to wind down at the end of the night.

This is a drop-off (childcare) program for children ages 3-9 (must be potty independent, see below). Kids will have a chance to exercise their minds, bodies, imagination, and independence.

Age Requirements: 3 to 9

• The age policy is firm, no exceptions

TIME: 6:00pm-9:00pm

• Drop-off begins at 6:00pm; early drop-off at 5:30pm can be added for $5.00 per child. (This fee applies to all participants, including members).
• Pick-up ends at 9:00pm. A late fee of $15 may be applied for pick-ups after 9:05pm.

LOCATION: The Nest at 1712 Willow Drive, Chapel Hill NC 27514 

PLEASE BRING:

• A water bottle labeled with your child's name
• Children are welcome to wear pajamas & bring a pillow or blanket for the show.
• The Nest exhibit area is no-shoes space for all visitors. Socks are recommended!

BATHROOM INDEPENDENCE POLICY:

• Children must be potty independent to attend this program.
• Being potty independent means a child is able to communicate the need to go to the bathroom and complete the entire process on their own. While staff supervise multiple group bathroom breaks during this program, they are not able to facilitate bathroom visits for children. Please see the policy below for more details.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER:

• Please make sure the date selected above is the one you intended to book. To access other dates, click on the "Other Dates" button for a calendar.
• We reserve the right to cancel any program that does not meet the minimum enrollment requirement for registrants. In the event that a program is canceled, we will issue a full refund to any registered participants or transfer your registration to a later date. Please see the policy below for more details.

While we recommend signing up at least a week in advance to ensure we have plenty of fun activities and yummy food ready for everyone, please note that online sales end at 4pm on the day of the program. If you are looking to register your child for the program after 4pm or be added to the waitlist for a sold-out date, please email tanya@ncchildrensmuseum.org.

School's Out Camp!

Drop-off programs for holidays and teacher workdays. 

AGE REQUIREMENT: Ages 4-8 ONLY

DATE: 

• Registration is only available for the full week of camp. It is not possible to register for individual days of camp. 

TIME: 8:30am-4:00pm

• Drop-off runs from 8:30am-9:00am and pick-up runs from 3:30pm-4:00pm

LOCATION: The Nest at 1712 Willow Drive, Chapel Hill NC 27514 

• Next to Binkley preschool

Please send lunch, 2 snacks, and a water bottle with your child. All items must be labeled with the child's first and last name.

Buzz on over to Kidzu’s Learning Garden on Tuesday & Thursday mornings! We will get our hands dirty as we play, explore and care for our garden and discover the plants and critters that live there. Children, caregivers and community members are invited to come help us maintain our beautiful new outdoor space during this program. All ages welcome.

Please note that Junior Gardeners will only be offered on Thursdays beginning on September 2nd.

IMPORTANT POLICIES TO KNOW BEFORE REGISTERING:

• Pre-registration is required for each adult and child due to limited capacity. Walk-ins will be accommodated as space allows. 
• All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder. The Makery is not a drop-off facility for children and staff members are not certified to provide child care. DELETE FOR ADULTS X2 ABOVE
• Bathrooms are located in the Boxyard RTP complex, outside of the the Makery.  Staff will not be available to escort visitors to the bathrooms during this program.
• The Makery at Boxyard reserves the right to cancel a program one week prior to the start date if the minimum enrollment requirement is not met. In the event that a program is canceled, we will issue a full refund to any registered participants.
• Visitors may be filmed, recorded, or photographed by The Makery for educational and promotional uses. Please accept/decline photo permission in the following registration form.

Open Maker Session Registration

The Makery @ Boxyard RTP is a maker space geared toward upper elementary aged children, tweens, teens, and adults.

Two Open Maker Sessions are available each day, Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-2pm & 3pm-7pm

New for Spring! Sunday session from 12pm-6pm

Join us any time within the session block for one of our two maker experiences:

Maker’s Choice

Come and bring your own materials to work on a project in our well-equipped maker space or create freely using the variety of materials, tools, and equipment we have to offer--including recycled materials, art supplies, tools, and making machines. You will also have access to our very experienced and talented Makery staff to ask questions or provide support if you want to try your hand at something new! 

Maker’s Project 

Purchase a prepared maker kit and work on the project in our maker space with access to additional materials or assistance from our trained Makery staff. You can expect to complete the project in one session and take it home with you! Kits are subject to availability, may change weekly, and price dependent.  

June Maker's Project: Beach Sand Art Necklace. Take the beach with you wherever you go this summer using colored sand to create two beautiful sand art necklaces!

Every individual requires a ticket; each "Maker's Project" ticket includes one kit. Children under the age of 12 months are free and do not need to register. 

Museums for All National Access Program: If you have an EBT, SNAP, or WIC card, you qualify for $3.00 Maker's Choice tickets. Enter discount code: MAKERY4ALL at checkout and please bring your card for verification upon checking in. Discount rates are not yet available for featured Maker's Projects.

• Pre-registered ticket holders are guaranteed access upon arrival.
• Registration remains open online until one hour before the end of the session; after that time, tickets can be purchased at the door as space allows. Please call 919-933-1455 to check availability.
• You may arrive and leave any time during your session! The Makery closes at the end of each session as scheduled.
• All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
• Individuals ages 14 and up are welcome to attend an Open Maker Session independently without being accompanied by an adult. However, please note that The Makery is not a childcare facility and we do not assume additional responsibility for those individuals outside of our normal healthy and safety practices.
